Having ones child or children attend Kids Camp USA picnics, camps or other events is not just a great chance for the kids to hang out and have some fun, but it's also a great opportunity for their parents to take a day or a week off, or spend quality time with one child while the other(s) are away.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can attend a Kids Camp USA event and what is the eligibility criteria?
Kids Camp USA kids are chosen for camp and the other events on the basis of their demonstrated financial, social, emotional or parental hardship. As we can not always judge this need ourselves, Kids Camp USA seeks the recommendations of social workers and teachers among others, who suggest to us the names of children who might benefit from a day or a week away. Kids Camp USA then selects nominated children depending on the availability.
What other events/activities can kids participate in?
Some of the other activities that are currently being held are as follows: bowling parties, movie days, Peter Piper Pizza extravaganza, Big Surf, Diamondback baseball games & our end of the year Christmas Party.
How old must my child be to attend Kids Camp USA ?
To attend picnics and other events held children must be between 8 and 13 years old. To attend camps children must be between 8 and 13 years old.
Can Kids Camp USA take children with disabilities?
We attempt to accept as broad a range of children as possible, but due to the physical nature of many of our activities and the voluntary, untrained nature of our staff, Kids Camp USA does not provide services for children with inhibiting physical disabilities. We do on occasion make exceptions. Kids with learning disabilities or attention deficit disorders are very welcome at Kids Camp USA. We can also provide special supervision for children who can not swim or take part in other specific activities, as long as we are advised in advance of their special needs.
What level of supervision exists on picnic/camp?
Kids Camp USA for Kids consists of student and adult volunteers. All our volunteers have been approved to work with children. Kids Camp USA uses a traditional family structure to ensure all children under our care are properly supervised, and that all children have multiple people of each sex that they can talk to and seek help from.
Kids Camp USA also has several staff members trained in first aid at each picnic, camp or event. It is also Kids Camp USA policy that children are never left in the care of just one leader unless in a public space, and that children be able to seek support and attention from whomever they feel most comfortable with.
What will my child do on picnic/camp?
Activities on picnics and camps vary every year. Typically your child should be dropped off at our scheduled meeting location or the child will be picked up from your house by their leaders to join all the other children and leaders for a picnic, games and activities and drop your kids home in the afternoon.
On camps we have many activities to keep all our little campers occupied for 5 full days. These include boating, swimming, water volleyball, volleyball on dry land, fun-fairs, arts and crafts, going to the beach, aquatic playgrounds, tubing, charades, kickball tournament and much more.... Kids Camp USA tries to provide every child with the best 5-days of their lives by making sure there is something for everyone.
Why was my child not selected to go on picnic/camp?
Camps and picnics are in very high demand and unfortunately we can not take everyone who applies. Our funding is limited to how much money we can raise and this dictates how many children we can take each year. If your child was not selected, please first check that they were nominated by someone. If your child was nominated but not selected, please do ask for them to be nominated again. Kids Camp USA tries to include new faces each year and past attendance is never a criteria for re-selection.
Who can I contact to get my child invited to picnic/camp?
